Pupil voice

At Bridgewater School, we believe that every child’s voice matters. Encouraging our pupils to share their thoughts, ideas and perspectives is at the heart of our inclusive and inspiring community. Through our dedicated Pupil Voice initiative, we empower students to play an active role in shaping their educational experience and contributing meaningfully to school life.

Our Pupil Voice Ambassador Programme

Our Pupil Voice programme spans all year groups, ensuring every pupil has the opportunity to be heard. Whether it is through our suggestions box or the leadership of our termly-elected Pupil Voice Ambassadors, this initiative provides a vital platform for pupils to engage with peers and staff in a meaningful way. Ambassadors meet weekly with the Head of Prep, representing their classmates’ views and helping to influence decisions that make a real difference within our school.

Making a difference

One of the most impactful aspects of the Pupil Voice initiative is its ability to address real-world challenges. From improving experiences in the playground and classroom to advocating for safer roads outside our school with Salford Council, our pupils play a key role in making the Prep department an ever-better place to learn and grow. By fostering their ability to communicate effectively, listen actively, solve problems creatively, and work collaboratively, the programme equips pupils with valuable life skills that will serve them far beyond their school years.

Instilling core values

The Pupil Voice initiative also nurtures our school’s core values, particularly the principles of democracy and integrity. Through elections and decision-making processes, pupils learn about fairness, accountability and social responsibility. These early experiences instil the importance of working together, respecting diverse perspectives and taking pride in shaping their community.

By empowering our young learners to make their voices heard, we are not only enriching their education but also inspiring them to become thoughtful, confident and compassionate citizens of the future.

Pupils' voices have a positive influence on the development of the school.
