Senior School – Learning Support

Pupils with dyslexia, dyspraxia, autism, ADHD and anxiety issues, face many difficulties during the school day and need extra support to help them cope with the pressures of secondary education.

At Bridgewater, our dedicated Learning Support department works with the rest of the school to help teachers understand the specific needs of each individual pupil, and with their support, many students are able to talk through and fully resolve any issues.

Learning Support rooms provide a safe space for students, away from structured lessons, where they can receive extra support with their studies throughout KS3 and KS4. In these sessions, students are able to enhance their skills in English, Maths and Science, using the time to complete and process work given in lessons. Students are also able to learn study skills, helping them with revision and timetabling.

Resources for students include:

  • Interactive Dyslexia Interaction (IDL)
  • How2Become workbooks
  • TTS Flip It Maths cards
  • Course specific workbooks for KS3 and KS4.

Support is in place for students up to Year 13 to help them with their A level studies and future career options. With access to several university prospectuses, students are able to review and discuss with experienced staff, all of the routes open to them.

The school's family atmosphere and inclusive and tolerant ethos underpins the excellent personal development of pupils
