At Bridgewater School our continuous Careers Programme forms an integral part of the Sixth Form tutorial system, enabling every student to receive one-to-one guidance and personalised advise regarding careers and Higher Education throughout their individual journey. This is supported by continued enrolment to Morrisby, giving them access to impartial guidance from which their tutors develop an action plan tailored to the strengths and desires of each student.

…in Year 12

- Joint parent / student information event regarding Higher Education and apprenticeships
- Signposting and support on accessing and using career and course information

In Year 12 students take part in sessions for: ‘Options at 18′ – discussing options for employment, apprenticeships and education, ‘Choosing a Degree Subject’ – finding subject areas of interest, researching study topics, entry requirements and graduate destinations of interest, ‘Researching Degree Courses’ – conducting research into available degree courses, ‘Creating a UCAS Personal Statement’ – discovering what makes a great personal statement stand out and identifying evidence to begin writing their document, ‘Understanding the School Leaver and Graduate Jobs Market’ – raising awareness of the jobs market for students’ future careers, and ‘Job Search’ – gaining lifelong advice to make effective, efficient job searches, using online and personal techniques.
…in Year 13

In Year 13 students take part in sessions for: ‘Making Apprenticeship and Job Applications’ – giving the tools to make effective applications, ‘Successful Interviews’ – preparing students for interviews within the employment and education sector, and ‘Career Management for the Future‘ – imparting lifelong skills to help students make career decisions confidently now and into the future.
Bridgewater School measures the effectiveness of careers and enrichment activities by considering both the attainment and the destinations of pupils. Success will be reflected in higher numbers progressing to apprenticeships, universities, traineeships and other positive destinations such as employment or a further education college.
