Condover to Canada – experiences that shape us
From outdoor challenges and team-building adventures to cultural experiences and international travel, residential trips are an important part of life at Bridgewater School, providing opportunities for students to develop confidence, independence and friendships that extend far beyond the classroom.
As the first half term of the academic year draws to a close, students in Years 7 and 8 have been enjoying two very different residential experiences, each designed to encourage personal growth, strengthen relationships and bring learning to life in new and exciting environments.
Building friendships and confidence at Condover Hall
For our newest Senior School students, the Year 7 residential to Condover Hall in Shropshire forms an important part of the school’s wider induction programme, helping students settle into their new surroundings and develop friendships with their peers.
Through a packed programme of activities including zip wiring, abseiling, axe throwing, buggy building, Aero Ball, trapeze challenges and Mini Olympics, students were encouraged to step outside their comfort zones, work collaboratively and discover what they could achieve with the encouragement of their peers.
Beyond the excitement of the activities themselves, the residential provided valuable opportunities for students to get to know their teachers in a more informal setting, strengthen relationships and develop the confidence and resilience that will support them throughout their Senior School journey.
Exploring new horizons
Meanwhile, our Year 8 students rounded off the half term with a three-day residential to London, enjoying a varied programme of cultural, historical and educational experiences in the capital.
From the interactive challenges of Immersive Gamebox, where teamwork and problem-solving skills were put to the test, to an evening performance of Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing at the iconic Globe Theatre, the itinerary offered a fascinating contrast between modern innovation and London’s rich, cultural heritage.
A return visit to Shakespeare’s Globe provided the opportunity to take part in a practical stage combat workshop and guided theatre tour, bringing the world of Shakespeare to life in a particularly memorable way. Students also explored centuries of royal history at the Tower of London, including the magnificent Crown Jewels, before enjoying spectacular views across the capital from the London Eye.

Opportunities to explore the wider world
Alongside our annual residential experiences, Bridgewater students benefit from a growing range of sporting, cultural and subject-specific visits, both in the UK and overseas.
Recent highlights include a return to Club La Santa in Lanzarote, where students enjoyed a multi-sports residential, combining physical challenges with the opportunity to experience a wide variety of sporting activities in a world-renowned training environment.
Looking ahead, further opportunities include:
- USA History Trip (2026) – bringing historical learning to life through experiences beyond the classroom.
- Music and Art Trip to Paris (2027) – offering students the opportunity to explore their creative interests in a city celebrated for its artistic and cultural heritage
- Ski Trip to Canada (2028) – returning to Marmot Basin in Jasper National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, for an unforgettable alpine adventure.
Together, these experiences reflect our commitment to providing an education that extends beyond academic achievement, encouraging students to discover new interests, challenge themselves and develop a broader understanding of the world around them.
