Academic Departments – English

IMG_2199Our department is characterised by our strong sense of collaboration and enthusiasm for our subject and our pupils. We enjoy an excellent working relationship with staff from other departments both at our school and others. The Department’s main aim is to achieve the highest possible standards for all our pupils and we do this very successfully as can be seen from our examination results. We hope that pupils will enjoy their work in English and we strive to ensure that our curriculum offers a rich and diverse range of learning experiences.

Our Curriculum is skills based and Years 9 -11 follow the GCSE WJEC Edqas specifications. There is a strong emphasis on independent reading and there is a very positive attitude in the school towards reading and the subject in general.
