Peter Close

Peter Close, Class of 2012.

Graduated from Sheffield Hallam University with a Degree in Mechanical Engineering, where he was awarded the Joint Education Award by The Company of Cutlers in Hallamshire. Following graduation, Peter took a gap year to travel, gain experience and build his personal skills, before accepting a place on the BAE Graduate Development Framework, working on state-of-the-art technologies in the defence industry. He now works as a Strategy & Business Development Officer for BAE Systems and has begun a Masters of Engineering at Cranfield University.

“What I particularly remember about Bridgewater was the small class sizes which allowed lessons to have lots of practical learning, in particular the large amounts of experiments which were carried out in Mr Barker’s Physics lessons. This hands-on learning allowed for a greater understanding of theories and information.

I suffer from dyslexia, which is one of the main reasons that led me to Bridgewater. I joined in Year 8 and throughout my time at Bridgewater there was always a large amount of support offered. I believe this enabled my confidence to grow and put me in a good place for starting university.”
