Prep VE 80 Celebrations

2025 marks the 80th anniversary of VE and VJ Days, when Great Britain celebrated victory over the Nazis and their allies, ensuring that the values of democracy, justice, liberty, respect and tolerance would endure for generations.

Our Prep pupils will be studying the significance of this victory and the legacy it has left for us today. They will also explore life in the 1940s and learn about the nationwide celebrations that took place, up and down the land, on VE Day in 1945. This week-long focus will culminate in a special VE Day Celebration for all our Prep and EYFS pupils, held on the school’s front lawn.

We warmly invite parents and members of our school community to join us at 2:15pm on Friday 9th May for this commemorative event. Refreshments will be available in the Prep Hall from 1:30pm, before all classes and the Prep Choir perform traditional wartime song and dance. As in 1945, the event will be filled with Union Flag bunting and a joyful community spirit!

To add to the atmosphere, pupils and staff are encouraged to wear 1940s-style fancy dress or red, white and blue. We would love to see parents and visitors embracing the theme as well.
