Enrichment programme

At Bridgewater School, we believe that education extends far beyond the classroom. Central to our ethos is the understanding that personal growth is as important as academic success, and our Enrichment Programme is specifically designed to support this holistic approach. By offering a wide variety of extra-curricular activities and enrichment opportunities, we enable students to flourish socially, emotionally, physically and practically, alongside their academic achievements.

Here, our goal is to nurture students who are not only academically capable, but also emotionally resilient, socially responsible and inspired to make a difference. By offering a broad range of enrichment opportunities and extra-curricular activities, we aim to inspire a sense of community and the confidence to embrace the challenges of the future.

Enjoying our extra curricular activities

We offer a wide array of subjects and extra-curricular activities throughout the academic year, ensuring that every student has the chance to participate and pursue their passions. Our programme enables students to be part of something bigger – whether through sport, music, drama or academic clubs, while also celebrating their individuality.

Students are also given opportunities to represent the school in various sports at both team and individual levels. Our recent sporting achievements include:

  • National ISA U16 Football Champions
  • Salford KS4 Badminton Champions
  • Salford Netball League Champions
  • Salford Year 9 Girls Rounders Champions
  • National ISA U16 Netball Finalists
  • Northern ISA Athletics Champions (in various disciplines).

The addition of facilities such as our fully-equipped sports centre, drama studio and 3G all-weather sports area, has further enhanced our comprehensive extra-curricular programme. These facilities underpin the strong personal development of all our students, supporting their growth in teamwork and resilience.

Residential trips

Experiential learning is a vital part of our enrichment offering, and each year we provide an eclectic range of residential and travel opportunities. From sporting and cultural tours to subject-specific excursions, these experiences enrich the curriculum and inspire a lifelong love of learning.

Recent trips have included:

  • MFL / History trip to France
  • Club La Santa multi-sport trip
  • Ski trip
  • USA History tour
  • Wimbledon Tennis Championships & Thorpe Park trip
  • Vocal Group performance at Disneyland Paris
  • Malaga football and netball tour

Our students also benefit from wider travel opportunities, such as our trips to Iceland and the USA, which not only inform and energise their learning experiences but also influence their subject choices and future aspirations.

Enrichment Passport

To further enhance personal development, the Enrichment Passport is a vital tool for all Senior School students. Structured around five key strands – Physical, Wellbeing, Leadership, Skills and Social Responsibility, the passport is designed to offer students a structured way to explore their interests, develop new skills and achieve personal goals. By completing activities across the five strands, students are encourages to work towards a fully-stamped passport, which not only records their accomplishments, but also reflects their commitment to both personal growth and community engagement.

Pupils gain an understanding of different cultural and social perspectives of the world.
