“I attended from Year 9 until Year 13 and my time at Bridgewater was simply brilliant. The school is really close-knit but that doesn’t shrink your opportunities. Everything is made available to you, from sport and academic field trips, to small classes where the teaching is more focused and specific than that of a larger school. This was great as it really helped with areas and subjects that I found more challenging.
Sixth Form at Bridgewater offered a different experience than school, with far more freedom and independence, and my time in Sixth Form is where I hold some of my favourite memories. A-levels are challenging so having smaller, more concentrated classes provides you with the opportunity to understand the subjects in greater depth and helps you to prepare specifically for the exams ahead. The teachers pay close attention to every student and support you in achieving your next steps after Sixth Form. Mrs Minta and her team provide invaluable guidance throughout the university application process, from inviting in university speakers and organising campus visits, to helping you craft and develop your personal statement.
Sport was a big part of my decision when deciding to continue into Year 12 and 13. Despite the Sixth Form being much smaller than the main school, the sports department was more than happy to work with you to accommodate your sporting interests. For me this meant one-to-one cricket training with Mr Smith and weekly trips to Chill Factore, where I could keep on my skis throughout the year. Both of these sporting opportunities helped with my A-level practical assessment and ensured I could continue on my chosen path.”
