Rowan Blessing, Class of 2022

Currently studying Politics and International Relations at the University of York. Political campaigner, charity fundraiser and DofE Bronze recipient, Rowan joined Bridgewater at the age of three and went on to become Head Girl in 2021. Having completed a virtual work experience placement in Politics with Springpod and awarded an A* for her Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) which looked into whether the UK government abandoned the younger generation in 2020, she ends her Bridgewater journey with three A-levels in English Language (A*), History (A) and Psychology (A).

“My time at Bridgewater will be something I will never forget. I learned much more than just academic topics during my 15 years at the school. The Sixth Form tutors are people I will forever be indebted to, for the support they provided me during my last years at Bridgewater. While the end of my school journey didn’t quite end in the traditional way, having learnt half of my A-levels online, the staff at Bridgewater were a lifeline I didn’t always know I needed but will always be grateful for.

Some of my fondest memories lie in my Sixth Form lessons, the small class sizes and staff make every lesson interesting and worth every second. My A-level Psychology and History lessons are times where my teachers got the best out of me, even when I didn’t believe that I could do it.

The vast opportunities and experiences provided by Bridgewater are something I will be able to take forward with me and help me develop into the future. From playing sport for the school, creating artwork for the showcase, to organising and running charity events; there is always a way for students to expand their skills and confidence, in and beyond the classroom.”

There is always a way for students to expand their skills and confidence, in and beyond the classroom.
