Open Evening inspires students to think bigger
We were delighted to welcome our Year 11 students and their families to our recent Sixth Form Open Evening, alongside prospective students from other schools who joined us to discover more about life in Sixth Form at Bridgewater School.
The evening began with a presentation exploring the exciting opportunities and important considerations involved in making post-16 choices, and what makes the Bridgewater Sixth Form experience distinctive.
We were particularly proud to hear from Year 13 students Thea, who has been part of the Bridgewater community since Prep III. Speaking warmly about the school’s supportive and inclusive environment, Thea explained why continuing her education into Sixth Form had been such a natural choice, both for her academic development and personal growth.
Visitors also heard from Bridgewater alumna Angelina Kelly, now working as a journalist and presenter with talkSPORT. Angelina reflected on how her Sixth Form subject choices helped shape her future pathway and spoke appreciatively of the teachers and wider Bridgewater community whose support and encouragement had played such an important role in her journey.
Mrs Hilton, Head of Sixth Form, also highlighted the strong relationships we continue to maintain with our former students. Our growing alumni network provides an invaluable connection between current pupils and the world beyond school, with former students already contributing to work experience opportunities, careers events and a range of exciting collaborations.
Following the presentation, families were invited to explore our Sixth Form facilities and meet with subject specialists. These informal conversations provided an opportunity to discuss individual A Level subjects, post-18 pathways, university options and future career aspirations, with guidance tailored to each student’s interests and ambitions.
It was a wonderful evening, filled with positive conversations and enthusiasm for the next stage of our students’ education. Above all, it was an opportunity to demonstrate what lies at the heart of our ‘Think bigger about a smaller Sixth Form’ approach – an environment where students are known as individuals, supported in their ambitions and encouraged to discover just how much their can achieve.
We look forward to continuing to support our current Year 11 students, alongside those considering joining us from other schools, as they explore their post-16 options and take the next step towards their futures.
