Modern Languages

In the Sixth Form at Bridgewater School, students are able to continue with their studies in Spanish, French or both languages to AQA AS and A Level.

We have a rich, language-based curriculum, complete with studies in film, literature, history and independent research. The principal focus is to assist the students in developing their mastery of language and grammar, whilst expanding their knowledge of current affairs in the target language country and building enhanced views of arising social and political issues. Our students have helped lead residential trips to France and Belgium and have taken part in several Spanish Exchange visits to Madrid and Zaragoza.

Many of our A-level students go on to continue their studies at degree level and popular university destinations include the University of Manchester and Lancaster University. In addition, we maintain very strong links with our alumni and former students of Modern Languages, who have entered the world of work in sectors such as International Journalism and Broadcasting, Education and International Law.

Pupils' experiences are enriched by an extensive range of visits and extra-curricular activities, locally, regionally and internationally.
