Year 7 Bikeability
We have the opportunity to run a ‘Bikeability’ course pupils in Year 7. ‘Bikeability’ is Cycling Proficiency for the 21st century. It is designed to give young people the skills and confidence to ride their bikes safely on today’s roads. This course is available free of charge as it is fully funded by the government.
The course includes:
– Up to 8 hours of instruction, delivered over 2 days during school time (up to 6 pupils per instructor)
– 2 hours of instruction (Level 1) on the school playground and up to 6 hours (Level 2) on carefully selected roads.
– Pupils who have already completed Level 1 will be working to achieve a Level 2 award.
If you would like your child to participate, they will need their own bicycle which must be road-worthy. They must be able to ride a bike unaided and, in addition, have their own safety helmet. You will need to bring your child’s bike to school on the days that your child has been allocated. Overnight storage will be available. Bikes should be labelled with the name of your child.
Places are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. Please return completed applications by Friday 9th May 2025.
