Y7 Bikeability 2026

We have been given the opportunity of running a further Bikeability course at Bridgewater School for pupils in Year 7 on Monday 29th June to Thursday 2nd July 2026.

Bikeability is Cycling Proficiency for the 21st century. It is designed to give young people the skills and confidence to ride their bikes safely on today’s roads. This course is available free of charge to pupils as it is fully funded by the government.

The course will include:

  • Up to 8 hours of instruction, delivered over 2 days during school time
  • 2 hours of Level 1 instruction on the school playground and up to 6 hours of Level 2 instruction on carefully selected roads. Pupils who have already completed Level 1 will be working to achieve a Level 2 award
  • Certificates to celebrate their success
  • Groups of up to 6 students per instructor
  • Use of hi-vis vests.

If you would like your child to participate, they will need their own bicycle which must be road-worthy. They must be able to ride a bike unaided and, in addition, have their own safety helmet.
