The Silver DofE Award prides itself on providing the opportunity for young people to take part in unique and exciting physical challenges. The mode of transport selected for the Silver expedition is cycling. The majority of the expedition will be on off-road tracks but there may also be some short sections of supervised road cycling. (Further details will be available once participants have planned their intended routes).

Ahead of the expedition, students will take part in various training covering basic expedition principles and introducing them to expedition equipment. This includes a practice expedition to enable students to develop the necessary skills for safely using and maintaining a bike.

The date of the practice expedition will be Wednesday 6th May – Friday 8th May 2026, with the qualifying expedition taking place in September.
